TV - stop watching cable (part 1)

where do i start with this one...

if you are poor and spending more than 30 dollars a month on cable television, you're an idiot. period.

it's not like you have much choice, but come on. this is how tv works. you can watch one channel at a time. so you're paying for 399 channels you're not watching. if you aren't watching tv, it's 400 channels. the one channel you are watching, you don't get to pick what you watch... some network stooge is making that call. most cable channels that you are paying for also have commercials... so that's like watching the side of a bus. so sometimes if the moons align and you hit the 60% of airtime devoted to content, you might be looking at something you sort of want to see. congratulations... where do i sign up?

here's another reason not to get cable... the shows suck. all of them. only minor exceptions. most of the time you are watching people who want to be on tv for a living. losers. they should get a job where their underpaid.

what is really stupid is that there is a crapload of video content online. But can I access this from my couch with a remote control? no. i could probably write some software or build some hardware that would do what I want, but I can't because i'm stupid. some one else should do it. and make it cheap, because i am poor.

this whole tv garbage will be brought up time and time again. this was spawned by my recent search for pvr software and purchase of beyond tv. more on tht later.
